Salesforce Summer 24 Dynamic Forms for Opps and Leads

Ready for summer?  Salesforce’s Summer ’24 Release brings a host of new features and improvements across various Salesforce products. In a series, here are a couple of enhancements worth talking about.

Dynamic Forms for Leads and Opportunities: Enhanced dynamic forms now support Leads and Opportunities, enabling greater customization and flexibility.  What are dynamic forms you ask?  Dynamic Forms in Salesforce is a feature that allows administrators to create highly customizable and flexible page layouts by configuring fields and sections directly in the Lightning App Builder. This provides a more user-friendly and efficient way to manage field visibility and layout without relying on traditional page layouts. With Dynamic forms, you don’t have to do the old Classic page layout change – and THEN do it in Lightning.  A couple of cool features:

  1. Field and Section Configuration:
    • Fields and sections can be placed anywhere on the page and are no longer restricted by the page layout editor.
    • Administrators can drag and drop fields and sections in the Lightning App Builder to create customized layouts.
  2. Conditional Visibility:
    • Fields and sections can have visibility rules based on criteria like record values, user profile, or other conditions.  Think of it like dependent picklists – only better!
    • This allows for dynamic displays where only relevant fields are shown to users, reducing clutter and enhancing usability.
  3. User-Specific Layouts:
    • Different users can see different layouts based on their roles, profiles, or specific record criteria.
    • This personalization helps streamline user experience and ensures users only interact with necessary data.
  4. Improved Performance:
    • By showing only relevant fields, the page load time can be reduced, leading to better performance.
    • Users experience faster interaction times with the Salesforce UI.
  5. Ease of Maintenance:
    • Changes to field visibility and layout can be done directly in the Lightning App Builder without modifying page layouts.
    • This simplifies the process of making updates and reduces dependency on developers.
