Great Epicor Data Deserves a Real CRM

The Epicor + Salesforce Connection

WHY EPICOR + SALESFORCE

Connecting Epicor to Salesforce isn’t rare, plenty of firms will tell you they can do it. What’s rare is knowing Epicor’s API well enough to have built a real Epicor Salesforce sync three different ways, across three different points in Epicor’s own history, and gotten it right every time. We’ve handled an Epicor 10 integration for older, on-premise environments and a modern Epicor Kinetic integration for a manufacturer running the newest version, and we’ve got the clients to prove both. Flexlume is running a full two way Epicor Kinetic integration we built, and AMSC, formerly NeelTran, has been running a one way Epicor 10 sync we built back in 2016 that’s still going strong today, proof this doesn’t have to be fragile just because it’s been in place for years.  If you want the wider picture of how we work across every ERP we touch, not just Epicor, the full breakdown lives on our manufacturing page.

WHAT MOVES BETWEEN EPICOR AND SALESFORCE

Done right, an Epicor Salesforce sync isn’t a one field, one direction connection. In the integrations we’ve built, that’s meant account and contact records, quotes and quote line items, sales orders and order lines, full product and item master data, and in at least one case, commission calculations tied to closed deals, all moving on a schedule, not on a once a year data dump. Some of that comes from Epicor into Salesforce, some goes the other way, and which direction depends entirely on what your team needs to see where.

NO MORE KEYING IT TWICE

For one manufacturer we work with, Flexlume, that meant accounts, orders, the full product catalog, and even commission data flowing both ways between Epicor and Salesforce on a set schedule, not once a week, not by hand. The result wasn’t a flashier dashboard, it was a sales and project team that never had to ask whether something made it into Epicor yet.

EPICOR DOESN’T HAND THIS OVER FOR FREE

Here’s something most firms won’t tell you upfront. There’s an Epicor API fee before you ever get to build anything, a licensing step your Epicor rep will walk you through before the connection can even be built, worth budgeting for before the project starts, not discovering halfway through. Once that Epicor API fee is paid and access is in place, it’s a genuinely capable API, robust enough to move complex, real world data, it just takes someone who’s mapped it before to get there without months of trial and error.

THREE VERSIONS, ONE TEAM

Epicor has changed a lot over the years, and we’ve been in it the whole way. Back in 2016 we built a one way sync against an early Epicor 10 environment for the company now known as AMSC, still running today. Since then we’ve pulled quotes, orders, and product data over REST from a newer Epicor 10 deployment, and built a full two way integration against modern Epicor Kinetic for Flexlume. Whichever generation of Epicor you’re running, chances are we’ve already worked inside it.

WHAT THE DATA CAN SHOW YOU

Once Epicor and Salesforce are talking, what you build on top of that is up to you, anywhere from simple order status visibility for your reps to full dashboards blending shop floor data with your pipeline. Most companies underuse this part at first, and that’s normal, the integration is the hard part, the reporting is the easy part once the data’s finally in one place.
