Great Sage Data Deserves a Real CRM
The Sage + Salesforce Connection
WHY SAGE + SALESFORCE
Connecting Sage to Salesforce isn’t a plug and play job, most of the standard ways firms try it don’t hold up under a real sales process. We’ve built a real Sage Salesforce sync that does, and we know exactly where the easy paths fall short, because we tried them first. Sage isn’t the only ERP we live inside either, we connect Salesforce to everything from Epicor to Made2Manage and everything in between. If you want the wider picture of how we work across every ERP we touch, the full breakdown lives on our manufacturing page.
WHAT MOVES BETWEEN SAGE AND SALESFORCE
Done right, a Sage Salesforce sync covers more than order status. In the integrations we’ve built, that’s meant account and contact records, CPQ generated quotes priced from a lookup table for net dimensions and square footage rather than a flat per unit price, and sales orders that split automatically into multiple Sage orders per opportunity based on ship to, since one opportunity doesn’t always mean one delivery address. All of it moving on its own, not retyped by someone checking two systems against each other.
NO MORE GUESSING WHICH SAGE ORDER IT LANDED IN
For Incord, that’s meant a custom Sample Request Management component built right into Salesforce, generating the PDF and firing shipping and marketing notifications the moment a sample gets requested, no separate system, no separate step to remember. Incord also runs two brands through one Salesforce instance, each with its own quoting path and its own role hierarchy, proof this can handle more than a single, simple sales process.
WHAT THE DATA CAN SHOW YOU
Once Sage and Salesforce are actually talking, what you build on top of that is up to you, anywhere from simple order status visibility for your reps to full dashboards blending shop floor data with your pipeline. Most companies underuse this part at first, and that’s normal, the integration is the hard part, the reporting is the easy part once the data’s finally in one place.
WE TRIED THE OTHER WAYS FIRST
Before we settled on how to connect Sage to Salesforce, we tried the routes most firms reach for first, an off the shelf AppExchange connector and Sage’s own native sync tool. Neither held up to what a real quote to cash process needs. The Simple Data Exchange (SDE) API turned out to be the better path, and it’s what we built both the Incord and WCR integrations on. For WCR, a replacement parts and capital equipment manufacturer running Salesforce CPQ, that means specific CPQ SKUs, refurbishment quotes included, flow straight through into what lands in Sage as a sales order. Once you’ve tried the alternatives, it’s easy to see why we stuck with this one.
OLDER SAGE ENVIRONMENTS DON’T GET LEFT BEHIND
Not every Sage integration we run is a clean, modern build. We’re also maintaining a legacy ERP sync for a longtime client, one that’s now facing a forced authentication update as Salesforce phases out older login methods. Whether your Sage environment is a newer Sage deployment or something that’s been running quietly for years, we’re already in it, and we keep it running through changes like this one instead of letting it quietly break.
