Salesforce Announces New Lightning Editions

As we have seen with the past several releases, the primary focus at Salesforce is the new Lightning user interface. It’s been a bumpy road for existing customers (us included) but I think we are all at a point where we are seeing many of the benefits of the “Lightning Experience”.  We admittedly still find ourselves toggling back to Classic at times to use features such as custom buttons that pre-populate records with data or adding multiple products to Opportunities.  But with each new release it’s getting there, and fast!

And with that, Salesforce has announced that they will be replacing their traditional Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited Editions with new Lightning Professional, Lightning Enterprise, and Lightning Unlimited Editions for Sales Cloud and Service Cloud.

What does this mean for existing customers?? Existing Sales Cloud and Service Cloud customers will automatically receive the capabilities and features of the new Lightning Editions. You will not need to change editions.  In fact, Salesforce has already begun rolling in the new features to existing orgs so if you happen to be a Professional Edition customer and notice you now have a menu option for Workflow Rules, you are not seeing things!  Click here to read more and view a summary of features and pricing of the new editions.
