How We Helped Kenworth NE
Kenworth NE is an independently owned dealership with roots in Buffalo, New York, that has spent decades growing along I-90 and now covers territory reaching into Massachusetts and Rhode Island, backing its customers with trucks, parts, and service built to keep fleets moving. We started with Parts Sales and grew the build out to the Call Center and then Truck Sales teams, and everything we built landed the same way: none of it worked without the Karmak integration underneath it. Without that data feeding in, there simply wasn’t enough information behind the CRM to drive the business.
Salesforce Maps became the interface reps lived in day to day, not because it was flashy, but because it gave them something they could carry into the field. A rep standing in front of a customer could log a call by speaking instead of typing, snap a photo on site for the back office to work from, and see at a glance who they’d missed and which accounts had gone quiet, no sale in 30, 60, or 90 days. Because that’s where the real work was happening, everything else we built could plug into it. Account records carried real Karmak purchase and service history, so a pin on the map wasn’t just a location, it was a customer a rep could speak to intelligently about what they’d bought and what they might need next. Leads got logged the same way, from the field, with enough detail that Kenworth NE could finally see which lead sources were turning into sales instead of guessing. And because the activity behind all of it was real field work rather than desk-bound data entry, the KPIs pulled from it were something managers could put in front of reps as conversation starters and accountability tools, not just numbers nobody trusted.
We kept building on that foundation as Karmak itself created challenges of its own. Duplicate product records for the same unit across branches got consolidated into one clean record. Full truck inventory came in on the Product object, more than a hundred custom fields deep, so a rep could search and filter live units instead of calling around. We hardened the Karmak sync itself with retry logic, so a timeout during a busy sync window never turned into a missed update landing in a rep’s account view. And most recently, we built a trigger that automatically ties a closed invoice back to the marketing campaign that helped win it, so Kenworth NE can see which campaigns turn into closed business.
How We Can Help You
If your dealership runs on Karmak and your reps are stuck between a DMS that holds everything and a CRM that can’t reach it, or if leads and calls get logged at a desk instead of out where the work happens, that’s the gap we close. We build Salesforce around the DMS you already run and around the tool reps will actually carry with them, whether that’s Salesforce Maps or something else, so the data doesn’t sit behind a login nobody opens. And we don’t treat go live as the finish line. Kenworth NE’s build has grown for years past the original rollout, and we keep refining it as the dealership’s needs change.
Why It Matters
A DMS like Karmak holds everything a dealership needs to know about what a customer owns and what they’ll need next. Most of that value sits unused if it never leaves the DMS and reaches the tool reps use every day. As Kenworth NE’s own Melinda McAuliff put it when she and Dan Corbett presented this build to other dealers, a CRM by itself doesn’t generate sales, it takes sales process, team management, and data insights working together. That’s the difference between a system reps tolerate and one they carry into the field, and it’s what turned Kenworth NE’s Karmak data into a sales process that runs the same way for every rep.
